Appeals
The Appellate Division reviews appeals in misdemeanor, infraction, and civil limited matters.

Civil
The Civil Division handles cases involving recovery of money or property in non-contract civil disputes or contract enforcement, such as unlawful detainers, civil rights, and small claims. Petitions to change your name and other matters are also handled by the Civil Division.

Criminal
The Criminal Division has jurisdiction over cases in which someone is charged with a public offense (i.e., with committing a crime). Matters include alleged violations of felonies, misdemeanors, Fish and Game and DUIs.

Traffic
The Traffic Division handles infractions of the Vehicle Code, county ordinance infractions, and juvenile traffic infractions.

Family Law
The Family Law Division handles matters of divorce, child support, child custody, parentage, and domestic violence.

Probate
The Probate Division covers matters of estates, trusts, mental health, conservatorships, and guardianships.

Juvenile
The Juvenile Division handles cases of juvenile dependency and delinquency.
